What a month! I have spent the past several weeks writing posts for my blog in my head, but have had trouble finding the time to actually post them! I am finally breaking down and doing this with no pics this time :( That is my favorite part, but I want to get some of this down before I forget.
Brooke and I are have been very busy for the past month. Brooke has worked from before daylight to after dark on our farm everyday since we got chickens. I know he is worn out but he is very diciplined and never misses a beat. I have been been helping him, and I think (know..lol) that he is ready for a new helper. He is a little faster than me when we are gathering eggs. He says this is because I like us to stay close so we can visit, otherwise he would be much faster. That was a few weeks ago....now it is even harder, so I don't want to visit either! I spend the time planning anything I could possibly plan from what to cook for supper to my list of plans for our house in the next 10 years. Even beyond that....yesterday I was thinking about how I can make sure Abby does not drive fast when she turns 16, and decided that I would be such an uncool mom and get one of those things that records the speed on the car. Way too much time to think. I need to get an Ipod and download a book or learn a new language....LOL
Abby is growing up so fast! She made all A's in school for the 1st semester. I am very proud of her. She has really developed a love for reading this year and I am so glad. I read all the time from the time I was her age until I was out of high school. My mom always made me read the book before I saw the movie and the book was always better. I am looking forward to introducing Abby to some of my favorites like Charlotte's Web and my all time favorite, Little Women. We are also looking forward to softball season. This will be her first year out of T-Ball and she was nervous about the pitching machine (she wanted a real person to throw it) but we told her that the pitching machine would throw better than most of the kids so she didn't need to be worried. She is such a good big sister. I know I have said that before, but she is the biggest help and she just loves Mylee so much. I am planning some special days for just Abby and me soon and I am excited because she deserves them so much!
Mylee Brooke.....this little goose is now our entertainer. She very much knows when she is being silly and that she wants people to react to the funny things that she does. She is very theatrical which is funny to see on someone so little. She has begun to fall on the floor if she does not get her way....no screaming or anything, but little whimpers which magicly disappear if she gets sidetracked and reappear when she remembers that she is supposed to be mad. And as much as her mischevious side is developing, her sweet side is right there with it. She laughs at almost everything...even when I tell her no she giggles because she thinks I am playing a game. I know this will be an issue later....maybe I need to plan on that a little while I'm working with Brooke! LOL
Some things that Mylee has done lately that I want to remember:
A few weeks ago Reagon and Kendall came over. As soon as Mylee saw Kendall she ran to her and gave her the biggest hug around the neck. Mylee does not give hugs to anyone but me or Brooke very easily so this melted my heart. I have prayed that Mylee would feel the same closeness to R and K as she does with Abby since she doesn't see them as much and there was no other way to describe that moment. Then Mylee went to Reagon who was laying on the couch resting (she just had a ballgame) and did the same thing, hugging her neck just as tight. It was the sweetest thing ever.
Mylee hit her head on our wood floor the next weekend while Reagon and Kendall were there. When Brooke held his hands out to see if she wanted to go from me to him (she ALWAYS does if she's crying) she refused and held her arms out to Reagon, who was standing beside him. We all thought it was sweet and Reagon loved that Mylee only wanted her.
She says Dada, Mama, biper (diaper) and Appy (Abby). This is about it. Judging by her personality so far, she will talk when she feels like it. She understands anything and will "get her paci" "get a diaper", get shoes socks on/off, etc.
She knows where her mouth, ears, nose, eyes, feet and toes are on herself and will show you where "momma's nose" or "daddy's ear" etc. is as well.
Two weeks ago she said her first sentence. "I puh" (translates to "I pooped"). We are all so proud of this and when you say "Did you poop?" she will point to or go get a diaper and will continue to say "I puh". The wonderful thing is that since this is exciting and she will say it almost on demand, that we show her off to family saying, again excitedly, "Mylee, did you poop? Say....I pooped!" And then they ask her if she pooped....... We are proud, proud parents but will be happy when she says her second sentence which will hopefully be of a more pleasant nature.
Mylee sleeps with me. Last week she woke up and saw a Little Debbie (the white cakes with choc. chips). Her dad had eaten one cake and wrapped the other one up the night before and left it on the nightstand. (we know she gets things off the nightstand so all we usually leave there is the phone and the alarm....this was her lucky day)
I woke up when she put the wrapper on my face and was met with a big chocolate smile. We don't give her sweets much and when we do it is just a couple of small bites, so I can't imagine how happy she was. Obviously if I had known I wouldn't have let her have it, but in retrospect I really wish I could have watched her sneak that cake....
